Cristian Rodriguez didn’t plan at first to follow his father and grandfather’s footsteps as a coffee producer: he initially went to the USA and got a dentistry degree! After many years he realised that he missed the connection to the agricultural industry he’d grown up with, and in 2010 he moved back to Honduras to be a farmer. In 2013 when hearing that Sasa Sestic and Sam Corra were in the Macarla area, he jumped in his car and drove six hours just to ask for them to cup his coffee and give tips on how he can make it better. At the time, Cristian’s coffee didn’t quite meet the quality mark to purchase, but he took all the feedback on graciously. Sasa made him a promise that the year he produces a 86pt lot, ONA would make sure to feature it. The next year we tasted his coffees again, and were able to make good on the promise to purchase!
Flavour profile:
This is another unique coffee, with a flavour profile that is not typical for its process. There is a juicy, malic, green apple acidity quality that leads to white nectarine notes and a floral finish.
